On June 28, 2009—40 years to the day after the Stonewall Uprising—police raided the Rainbow Lounge, a gay bar in Fort Worth, Texas. What followed was a firestorm of controversy, activism, and a city forced to reckon with its treatment of the LGBTQ+ community.
Raid of the Rainbow Lounge captures this pivotal moment in history through the voices of eyewitnesses, activists, and politicians who fought for change. What began as injustice sparked a movement—transforming Fort Worth into an unexpected leader in LGBTQ+ equality.
