RESCUING TEXAS HISTORY

In 2023, Badge Of Pride was awarded a "Rescuing Texas History" grant, which will allow for hundreds of artifacts from decades of Queer Texas history in our collection to be digitized and included in The Portal To Texas History. Those artifacts are now slowly making their way onto the Portal, ensuring these pieces of Queer history are freely available to the public and researchers for generations to come.

AMPLIFYING QUEER VOICES IN TEXAS

In winter 2023, Badge of Pride joined forces with Common Frequency, a nonprofit championing community radio, to elevate Queer voices through the airwaves in our home state of Texas.

Together, we seized the opportunity presented by a rare FCC filing window, applying for non-commercial Low Power FM (LPFM) radio station licenses to counteract harmful conservative anti-LGBTQ+ voices on the air in Texas. By successfully processing applications for LGBTQ-centered & affirming organizations in places like Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Fort Worth, Lubbock, and Tyler, we helped
engage the power of Queer nonprofits to reclaim the narrative and uphold the right to free speech in their local communities.

Now, with some of these fledgling radio stations making their way onto the airwaves, we are making a tangible difference, amplifying Queer voices, and inspiring change.
