Our Collection

Badge Of Pride is home to more than 10,000 LGBTQ+ artifacts, assembled over more than three decades. The Collection includes objects thousands of years old and material from the present day, drawn from across the United States and around the world. It makes clear that LGBTQ+ history is neither new nor confined to one place.

The Collection is the starting point for Badge Of Pride’s public work.

Access Is Not Guaranteed

Public access to LGBTQ+ collections and narratives is under active attack. The 2026 national study Powerful but Precarious: Mapping the Landscape of Community-Based Archives, produced by Engage R+D with funding and research support from the Mellon Foundation, documents the heightened scrutiny and safety risks facing community archives.

At a time when access is vulnerable, community archives provide another place for people to find their history. Badge Of Pride is one of the places where that work continues.

Building the Digital Collection

Badge Of Pride is in the early stages of building its collections management system. Before we publish an item, we need to understand what it is, where it came from, and how we can share it. As we complete those records, we will make approved items available free through this website.

Some objects will require more research or a careful privacy review. We will take the time necessary to get that right.

Support the Work

Your gift helps pay for the work that turns a stored object into a public resource. Make a one-time donation or join The Continuum as a monthly supporter.
