About the event
A Badge Of Pride Project in Partnership with The Writer’s Garret
Supported in part by the City of Dallas Office of Arts & Culture
The Love That Dares explores the ways LGBTQ+ people have written about love—quietly, urgently, defiantly, and with a clarity that often defied the world around them. This performance draws from historic Queer love letters and personal writings that chart longing, connection, heartbreak, and the everyday courage it takes to desire openly.
As with all CORRESPONDENCE performances, the texts will be presented verbatim and brought to life by a diverse ensemble of contemporary readers from Dallas’s Queer community. The focus here is intimacy: the small details of affection; the risks taken to reach another person; the private declarations that became proof of Queer lives in eras when such expressions were rarely protected.
The Love That Dares will highlight love in its many forms—romantic, tender, impatient, complicated, sustaining.…
